lands end...

Over the weekend we took a trip down to the south west corner of England (the Cornwall and Devon region to be exact). We've now officially travelled throughout the entire nation. Aside from one day trip coming up in a couple of weeks, this was our last weekend away.
Devon and Cornwall is the area where many English movies are filmed, because of it's close proximity to London, lovely county side, and fine weather. We stayed at this AMAZING hotel, the historical Headland Hotel. Fun facts; the Prince and Princess of Wales stayed in the very same room we did 102 years ago. Also the hotel was used as a hospital during the second world war and many soldier ghosts sightings have been documented...
Also "The Witches" was filmed at this hotel (a totally awesome 80's movie where a little boy and his grandma save all of the children in the United Kingdom from being turned into rats by purple eyed witches).
Much like the rest of England, this hotel has had it's restorations over the years, but they've kept it's ancient charm.
P.S. Most amazing Eggs Benedict I've EVER had, and I'm not just saying that because It's been over a year since I've indulged.
We were SO thankful for lovely weather. I mean Saturday was one of THE most gorgeous (and warm) days.

St. Michael's Mount (THE most important thing I've been dying to see since we've been in England, besides the world's largest tidal range and estuary in Bristol). Basically the ground my hubby is standing on below becomes completely covered in the Celtic Sea every tide.  Legend says that a mythical giant named Cormoran once lived on the Mount, and he used to wade ashore and steal cows and sheep from the villagers to feed his gargantuan appetite. One night, a local boy called Jack rowed out to the island and dug a deep pit while the giant was asleep. As the sun rose, Jack blew a horn to wake the angry giant who staggered down from the summit and – blinded by the sunlight – fell into the pit and died.
I know it's kind of a morbid story, but this story is said to be one of the many mythical origins of the ever famous Jack and the Beanstalk...
I LOVE LIVING IN THE LAND OF FAIRYTALES!!!

Here we are at Lands End, literally the most south western tip in England.
This picture made us laugh because Finn thought I was trying to do a really cool and interesting way of "high-fives" with him.
When we got back to the hotel both Chase and Finn took naps while I indulged in the hotels very vast library of first edition books (so amazing and totally a gold mine). Unfortunately I didn't read anything in depth because I was too excited flipping open every cover I could get my hands on.
When the boys woke up we hit the pool... for 2 hours. Getting Finn to do anything but sleep longer than 1 hour is a miracle.

Chase and Finnigin are the 2 very tiny figures far away on the rocks.
And of course we made it back home in time to watch the season 16 premier of Top Gear UK. : )
