As is our tradition, we flew to Chicago this past weekend to visit our dear friends Sean and Kim. We got complaints that we didn't bring Finn, and we made complaints about how their dog Reggie wasn't there. It was decided to be a weekend for adults! Chase and I were so happy to see our friends, they're the kind you don't see forever and then you pick up right where you left off the next time you do!
Chase and I have been wanting to visit the Museum of Science & Industry for the last 9 years, and for whatever reason we just never have before! This was the year, Saturday was the day! Let me back track... I had the awful awful stomach flu all week prior top our trip, I got it from Finn, and I was terrified Chase would get it. The day of our flights (plural because we took different planes) I still wasn't 100%, but I had to chance it. ANYWAY, Saturday morning neither Chase and I were feeling too great so we slowly meandered through the museum, just the 2 of us all day long. I honestly can't remember the last time I spent ANY alone time with my husband, and even though I was sick, it was still very nice.
The day was so nice, and we didn't even have to down play our excitement over every exhibit at the museum, because we are both just as equally nerdy as the other : )
As always we missed our little Finnigin, and spoke often at how much he would love certain aspects of the museum-especially the Old Victorian Town, and it's ice cream shop.
Here we all having drinks during sunset on top of the John Hancock building!
The view from the women's bathroom. As if women didn't spend enough time in the lavatory already...
On Sunday we cheered on Sean and Chase as they ran the Chi-Town half marathon. I am very proud of them both, but Chase's knee unfortunately hurts a little too much and will need to be looked at, so maybe no Chicago Marathon this year : (
At the finish line!!!
From Chicago, Chase flew back to the UK for 3 weeks (why we took separate flights on the way to Chicago). Finn and I are sad to once again be spending another Spring and my birthday with Chase overseas, but we're trying to make the best of it. I've had class every day, and I've been trying to make plans so we don't get too lonely.
Finn keeps asking to "Call, Daddy" and seems confused that he isn't home to read the bedtime story or say bedtime prayers. But Finn wears Daddy's race medal most of the day : )
