No more lazy Saturdays! To be honest though, we haven't had any lazy Saturdays in quite a while, but I'm starting to get anxiety about having to leave the UK soon and I don't want to waste any time! Chase woke up this morning and said, "Babe, today we are going to the zoo". I mean, who am I to argue? The weather was very fine today, and Finn can get into the zoo for free until he's 2, which will be in 6 days, so now was the time, today was the day...
EVERYONE I've met here in Chester has told us to go to the zoo. Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle is ok, nothing amazing, but it's a zoo (so obviously it's awesome). But, my top 100 to do in England hasn't involve going to the Chester Zoo because we could go to a castle or the Guinness Brewery instead. I was so wrong. Chester Zoo totally rocks and is the best zoo I've ever been to. We got to see every animal on display up close, with the exception of the bats. Which is a whole other story, because we could have seen them, but Chase said they were lame, and then I went crazy and started going off about how he loves Batman man so much, and how the US government did an experiment with bats in WW2, using a bunch of bats and napalm as bombs over Japan (giving a whole new meaning to combat btw). And though my husband found this very interesting he still didn't want to go to the bat exhibit. So I pouted for 3 minuets until I saw the flamingos, because I am ADHD at the zoo.
Chase and I were both reminded of my brother when he had dreadlocks by this ape. And we named him Steven James.
Finn called these deer like guys, "birds".
I told Chase that I always thought it would be cool to work at a zoo so I could hold the monkeys. I really wanted to take this little guy home with us.
OK this was so AWESOME! We get into the Rhino exhibit and no one is there except this one couple. And the Rhino is right next to them letting them pet it! I'm pretty excited to tell all the old biddies in yoga class about it tomorrow because Rhinos are kind of the Chester mascot.
Mini monkey on Chase's finger.
We had so much fun at the zoo today. You should also know that people here are OBSESSED with meerkats.
On the way home Chase and I laughed about what awesome parents we'd be if we named our next son Frodo. Totally weird I know, but I thought I'd throw that out there so in 5 years when we have another kid you all won't be surprised.
